If you are using Fuengirola as your base, there are so many fantastic day trips you can visit easily. Marbella makes one fun day trip that you can do by bus.

From the central bus station, there are regional bus services that run daily that covers the route between Fuengirola to Marbella. Some are slower and have many stops compared to the direct busese that get tyyou to Marbella in no time.

Going by bus is the best option with daily bus service from the central bus station to Marbella, taking you downtown or to the main bus station that lies outside of town. The daily bus to Marbella takes about an hour to get to the main streets in town.

Bus Station in Fuengirola

Head to the Fuengirola Bus Station located near the train station in the city center. You can use the vending kiosks for purchase from the ticket desk when you arrive.

Look for the buses operated by **Avanza**. This is the main company offering regular bus services between Fuengirola and Marbella.

Bus Route

The most common route is the M-220 line, which connects Fuengirola to Marbella. It’s a direct bus and stops at various points along the Costa del Sol.

Bus Schedule

Buses typically run every 30-60 minutes during the day. It’s advisable to check the schedule in advance on the Avanza website or at the station, especially if you’re traveling in the evening or on weekends when services might be less frequent.

Ticket Price

A one-way ticket usually costs around €3-6. You can purchase tickets directly from the driver or at the ticket office.

Travel Time

The journey takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on traffic and the number of stops along the way.

Arrival in Marbella

The bus will drop you off at the Marbella Bus Station, located a short distance from the town center. From there, you can take a local bus, taxi, or walk to your destination.

Tip – the bus driver does make stops along the way and when you are downtown, get off and you can easily get to any attraction easily.

 

How else to get to Marbella from Fuengirola

You can definitely go on your own with a rental car or use an app service like Bla Bla car to get there, but we found that the frequent bus services to get to Marbella are easier and cheaper.

It’s just a short 23 kilometer ride or about 43 minutes. There are also faster direct buses that will get you there in less than 30 minutes but you do have to check the bus schedules to make it work.
