Madrid is the capital and largest city of Spain, located in the central part of the country. It is situated on the high central plateau known as the Meseta Central.
Madrid is home to some of the world’s most renowned art museums, including the Prado Museum, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, and the Reina Sofia Museum. These institutions house masterpieces by artists like Goya, Velázquez, Picasso, and many others.
Madrid is known for its numerous charming plazas (squares), including the iconic Plaza Mayor and the bustling Puerta del Sol. The city is also home to expansive parks like Retiro Park, where you can rent rowboats and visit the Crystal Palace.
The city hosts a wide range of cultural events and festivals throughout the year, including the San Isidro Festival in May and Madrid Pride, one of Europe’s largest LGBTQ+ celebrations.
